The Range Rover Classic
There’s something quite regal about the classic range rover. It’s got a distinctive shape and a lot of well-known details. And while it’s not as ‘innovative’ as some modern SUVs, it’s still pretty cool in its own right and can be a great way to experience the good ‘ol days without having to worry about things like insurance.
Which is better Land Rover or Range Rover?
The first-generation range rover was introduced in the mid-1980s and stayed on the market until 1992. It was affectionately dubbed the ‘range rover classic‘ by fans.
It had the best off road capability of any car of its time, but was also a very capable on-road performer thanks to its large tyres and long suspension travel. It also was an extremely efficient vehicle with an excellent economy figure.
This particular range rover was a highline model with all the mod cons you could wish for including air-conditioning, electric windows and mirrors and a ZF four-speed automatic gearbox. It even had a motorised divider for the cargo area to make sure everything stays in place while you’re on the move.
Sadly, values for these models have been on the decline for quite some time. Fortunately, some enthusiasts have stepped in and started to restore them to the original standards, bringing them back to their former glory.
Kingsley Cars founder Damon Oorloff is a huge fan of the range rover, and has been restoring them for the last decade or so. He’s a self-taught mechanic who has always had an obsession with old cars. He says that “the classic Range Rover has been an integral part of my life since I was 16.”
